Squamish Airport (CYSE), officially Squamish Municipal Airport - Don Patrick Field, is a small general aviation aerodrome in British Columbia's Sea-to-Sky corridor, owned and operated by the District of Squamish. It has a single hard-surfaced runway and no air traffic control, making it a straightforward but scenic destination for VFR pilots flying among the coastal mountains between Vancouver and Whistler.
Squamish Airport, known formally as Squamish Municipal Airport - Don Patrick Field, is a small registered aerodrome owned and operated by the District of Squamish. It sits in the Sea-to-Sky corridor of British Columbia and serves general aviation traffic, flying clubs and scenic air operators rather than scheduled airline services, making it a popular stop for VFR pilots exploring the mountains and fjords around Squamish and Whistler.
The airport lies at coordinates 49.7817, -123.162 at an elevation of 171 feet, close to the community of Brackendale and roughly 5.4 nautical miles north of the town of Squamish, about 8 kilometres from the downtown area. It is an uncontrolled aerodrome operating on an Aerodrome Traffic Frequency rather than within controlled airspace with a tower.
Squamish Airport has one physical runway, 15/33, with a hard surface and a length of 2,389 feet. There is no ILS or other instrument approach equipment at the field.
Pilots use the Aerodrome Traffic Frequency (ATF) of 122.8 MHz at Squamish, as there is no air traffic control service on site. No instrument approaches or navaids are published for the airport.
As an uncontrolled aerodrome, Squamish operates on a self-announced basis using the ATF of 122.8 MHz; pilots should broadcast their position and intentions when joining, in the circuit and on the runway in the absence of any ATC service.
The airport is situated near Brackendale within the Sea-to-Sky corridor, with the town of Squamish, Howe Sound and the surrounding coastal mountains providing prominent visual references for pilots navigating to the field.
Squamish Airport operates as a registered aerodrome under Subpart 301.01 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and carries the name Don Patrick Field. The District of Squamish owns and operates the airport, and in December 2021 its council approved the scope for a four-phase Squamish Airport Strategic Plan.
The airport has no scheduled airline service and functions as a general aviation field supporting flying clubs and charter operators. Sea To Sky Air is based at the airport and operates scenic flights over the Squamish and Whistler mountains, including flights with Cessna 172 aircraft.
