It is a large international airport with two long parallel runways, making it a useful and visually distinctive destination for simulator pilots wanting to fly heavy or medium jet approaches into North Africa, complete with an instrument landing system on one runway direction.
The airport sits at Es-Sénia, just south of Oran, in western Algeria at coordinates 35.6272 N, 0.6114 W, with a field elevation of 295 feet. As a major international airport it lies within controlled airspace served by its own approach and tower control positions.
Oran Es-Sénia has two parallel hard-surfaced runways, both lit. The longer, runway 07L/25R, is 11,824 feet in the 07L direction and 11,606 feet in the 25R direction, with an ILS approach available for runway 25R. The second runway, 07R/25L, is 9,825 feet in length in both directions, also lit, with an ILS approach on runway 25L.
Traffic is worked by Oran Approach on 128.2 MHz and Oran Tower on 118.1 MHz. An ILS is available for landing on runway 25 (both the 25L and 25R approaches).
