MY FS FLIGHTS
Ehingen-Schlechtenfeld is a grass gliding site on the southern edge of the Swabian Jura, a few kilometres west of Ehingen (Donau) in Baden-Württemberg. Operated by the Sportflieger-Club Ehingen e.V., it is approved for gliders, motor gliders, ultralights and model aircraft, and offers a quiet, characterful destination for VFR gliding and light-aircraft flights in the region.
Ehingen-Schlechtenfeld is a small gliding airfield (Segelfluggelände) run by the Sportflieger-Club Ehingen e.V., located in the Schlechtenfeld district on the western edge of the town of Ehingen (Donau) in the Alb-Donau-Kreis. The site is dedicated to glider, motor glider, ultralight and model-aircraft operations, and its grass strip with a marked slope gives it a distinctive character that makes it an interesting stop for pilots exploring gliding sites in this part of Baden-Württemberg.
The airfield lies on the southern fringe of the Schwäbische Alb (Swabian Jura), about 4 km west of the centre of Ehingen (Donau), within the Schlechtenfeld district of the town. A prominent chimney belonging to a pulp mill (Zellstoffwerk) south-east of the airfield serves as a widely visible orientation point for pilots approaching the area.
The airfield has a single physical runway, 14/32, surfaced in grass and measuring 680 feet in length. There is no lighting and no instrument landing system.
Inbound aircraft are expected to make a radio call five minutes before reaching the field, using the call "Schlechtenfeld-Start". There is a compulsory reporting point named "Position" located at a landfill site south of the airfield, at which arriving aircraft must announce themselves.
Aircraft not based at Ehingen-Schlechtenfeld require prior permission from the site operator before departing or landing there (PPR). Overflying the nearby villages should be avoided during approach. Gliders are launched by aerotow or winch, with a 1,500-metre winch cable-laying run oriented perpendicular to the runway, on a heading of roughly 240 degrees.
The chimney of the pulp mill (Zellstoffwerk) south-east of the airfield is described as a widely visible landmark for pilots locating the site. The compulsory reporting point "Position", situated at a landfill (Deponie) south of the field, is used by arriving traffic before joining.
The airfield is operated by the Sportflieger-Club Ehingen e.V., which holds the operating licence for glider, motor glider, ultralight and model-aircraft activity at the site.
Ehingen-Schlechtenfeld remains an active gliding site under the Sportflieger-Club Ehingen e.V., supporting glider, motor glider, ultralight and model-aircraft operations. Non-based aircraft require prior permission (PPR) from the operator before using the field.
