Tarn Farm Airfield, also known as Rossall Field, is a small grass microlight strip at Bay Horse near Cockerham in Lancashire, a few miles south of Lancaster. Tarn Farm has two grass runways. The main runway, 01/19, is 1,524 feet long, while a shorter crosswind runway, 10/28, measures 888 feet. Both are grass surfaces with no instrument approach aids; there is no ILS at the field.
Pilots approaching the field can use the Lancashire coastline and Morecambe Bay to the west as a general reference, with the higher ground of the Bowland Forest providing a landmark to the east; the airfield sits close to the village of Cockerham a few miles south of Lancaster.
Tarn Farm continues to operate as a microlighting and general aviation airfield, and is noted as one of the more popular microlight destinations in Lancashire. It is used for recreational flying and flying experience trips rather than scheduled or commercial traffic; as with many small private strips, prior permission is required before arrival.
