The airport has a single physical runway, 13/31, surfaced in hard material and lit along its length. Runway 13 is 6,699 feet long and is equipped with an ILS approach, while the reciprocal Runway 31 is 6,714 feet long.

Radio & Navigation

Air traffic services are provided by Karmøy Tower on 120.5 MHz, with Karmøy ATIS broadcasting on 118.175 MHz. An ILS is available for Runway 13, supporting instrument approaches into the field.

History

Haugesund Airport, Karmøy opened in 1975 and for many years operated as one of Avinor's network of 45 state-owned airports. In 2017 the Norwegian Ministry of Transport decided to outsource the airport as a 20-year service concession, and the private company Lufthavndrift AS was awarded this concession, taking over operation of the airport on 12 May 2019.

The Airfield Today

Today the airport continues to operate as a commercial gateway for the Haugesund region, handling national and international scheduled and charter airline services under its private operator, Lufthavndrift AS. It remains equipped with an ILS-served runway suitable for instrument approaches by visiting pilots.
