For a sim pilot, its appeal lies chiefly in its coastal setting, close to the mouth of the Parseta River and the Baltic shoreline, rather than in complex airspace or approach procedures.
The airfield lies immediately inland of the Baltic Sea coast at Kołobrzeg, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland, close to where the Parseta River meets the sea. The city itself is the administrative centre of Kołobrzeg County and a well-known seaside health resort, giving the surrounding area a distinctive low-lying, coastal character.
EPKG has one physical runway, 08/26, of hard construction and 8108 feet in length, equipped with runway lighting. There is no ILS at the field.
The Baltic coastline and the mouth of the Parseta River, where it flows into the sea at Kołobrzeg, form the most obvious visual references for locating the airfield. The city's harbour, lighthouse and seafront, situated on the coast a short distance from the field, are further prominent landmarks for orientation when approaching from over the sea or along the shoreline.
