The airport lies about one mile west of the central business district of Calexico, in Imperial County, California, and sits directly against the international boundary with Mexicali, Mexico. Calexico International has a single physical runway, 08/26, of asphalt construction with runway lighting. The 08 threshold is listed at 4,682 feet and the 26 threshold at 4,510 feet; there is no ILS at the field.
Radio communications are handled on the CTAF/UNICOM frequency of 122.8 MHz, with the callsign UNIC. There is no control tower, so pilots should use standard self-announce procedures on this frequency for all arrivals, departures and taxiing.
As a non-towered airport, arriving and departing traffic is expected to self-announce on the 122.8 MHz CTAF and integrate with any other traffic in the pattern using standard practices for uncontrolled fields.
