The airport handles a modest volume of general aviation traffic, with around 4,420 aircraft operations recorded over a recent 12-month period, averaging about 85 movements a week. The vast majority of this activity, some 98 percent, is general aviation, with a small proportion of military and air taxi movements. Nine aircraft were based at the field at that time, all single-engine types. As of 2025, Lifeflight air ambulance designated Gardner Municipal Airport as its primary landing zone for the region following a shortage of critical care beds locally, and traffic linked to this service has been increasing to two or three flights a day.
