History

Grinnell Regional Airport, known locally as Billy Robinson Field, is owned by the City of Grinnell and covers 115 acres. It has been included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017-2021, where it was categorised as a local general aviation facility.

The Airfield Today

The airport supports general aviation activity, including corporate and recreational flying, for Grinnell and surrounding central Iowa communities. For the twelve months ending September 27, 2016, it recorded 5,950 aircraft operations, all general aviation, and as of December 2017 had 14 based aircraft, 13 single-engine and one multi-engine. The airport office is staffed Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to noon.
