Gaylord Regional Airport (KGLR) is a county-owned, public-use general aviation field in Bagley Township, Michigan, roughly one mile southwest of downtown Gaylord. For a simulator pilot, it offers a well-equipped small regional field with two hard-surfaced runways, an ILS approach, and enough infrastructure to make it a practical stop for cross-country flights through northern Michigan.
The airport lies in Bagley Township, one nautical mile southwest of downtown Gaylord, Michigan. It sits beneath the en-route structure worked by Minneapolis Center, with local air-ground communications also available through a Lansing radio outlet.
Gaylord Regional has two paved runways. Runway 09/27 is 6,556 feet long with a hard surface, lit, and served by an ILS on runway 09. Runway 18/36 is 4,174 feet long, also hard-surfaced and lit, but without an instrument approach.
The airport uses UNICOM/CTAF on 122.8 MHz for local traffic advisories. An ASOS automated weather observing station broadcasts on 118.375 MHz. Minneapolis Center provides en-route control services on 134.6 MHz, and a Lansing radio outlet is available on 122.55 MHz. Runway 09 is served by an ILS approach.
Gaylord Regional Airport is a county-owned facility that has long served as the general aviation gateway for the Gaylord area of northern Michigan. It covers some 1,572 acres and has been maintained under county ownership and Michigan Aeronautics Commission licensing as a General Utility Airport.
The airport remains owned and operated by Otsego County and continues to function as a general aviation facility offering both assisted and self-service aircraft refuelling, aircraft towing, a ground power unit, hi-low and deicing services, pilot and flight training, service and repair work, airframe maintenance, and crew cars, alongside amenities such as wireless internet access. It is funded in part by county general funds, with the remainder coming from fuel sales, land leases, hangar rents, landing fees and other service charges.
