Savannah Hardin County Airport was established in May 1963 and has remained in continuous operation since, serving as a hub for the local community. The airfield has received several accolades, including the Governor's Silver Star Airport Award, multiple Front Door Awards for its facilities and hospitality, and an Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement. The runway pavement was upgraded to 7.5 inches of solid concrete over a 30-inch base, raising the weight limit to 65,000 lb and allowing the airfield to accommodate larger corporate jets.
The airport is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Jet A+ and 100LL fuel are available on site, along with a pilot's lounge, free Wi-Fi, aircraft repair services and handicap-accessible facilities. A flight school, Go Vertical Aviation, operates from the field, and the airport's pavement upgrades now allow it to handle larger corporate aircraft.
