Spanish Fork-Springville-Woodhouse Field Airport is a small public-use general aviation aerodrome in Utah County, Utah, sitting northwest of the city of Spanish Fork under the wide open airspace of the Wasatch Front. Jointly owned by the cities of Spanish Fork and Springville, it offers a single hard-surfaced runway, left-hand traffic and an uncontrolled CTAF environment that makes it a straightforward VFR destination for light aircraft.

Overview

Known locally as Woodhouse Field, this airport serves the neighbouring communities of Spanish Fork and Springville in Utah County, roughly two nautical miles northwest of Spanish Fork itself. It is a modest general aviation field with a single paved runway, offering flight training, aircraft rental and maintenance services, making it a useful and uncomplicated stop for simulator pilots exploring the Utah Valley.

Airspace & Location

The airfield lies in Class G uncontrolled airspace within Utah County, on the eastern side of the Utah Valley beneath the Wasatch Range, close to the cities of Spanish Fork and Springville. It sits within the Salt Lake City sectional chart area and falls under the Salt Lake City Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZLC). There is no control tower on the field, and NOTAM and flight service coverage is provided through Cedar City FSS.

Runways

The airport has one physical runway, 12/30, 6,474 feet long with a hard surface and runway lighting. There is no ILS approach.

Radio & Navigation

Radio communications are conducted on the common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF) of 122.9 MHz, as there is no control tower or dedicated air-ground station. Useful area navaids include the Provo VOR/DME (PVU, 108.40 MHz) about 5.1 nautical miles away, the Fairfield VORTAC (FFU, 116.60 MHz) around 15 nautical miles distant, and the Wasatch VORTAC (TCH, 116.80 MHz) roughly 45 nautical miles away, alongside the more distant Tooele NDB (TVY) and the Salt Lake City VOT for cross-checking. No instrument approach procedures are published for the field.

Joining & Circuit Procedures

Traffic patterns for both runway directions, 12 and 30, are left-hand. Each runway is equipped with a four-light PAPI visual glideslope indicator on the left side of the approach, along with runway end identifier lights (REIL), assisting pilots in judging the approach in the absence of an instrument procedure.

Visual Reference Points

Pilots can use the adjoining cities of Spanish Fork and Springville, along with the rising terrain of the Wasatch Range to the east, as ready visual references when approaching the field from the Utah Valley floor.

History

The airport is publicly owned jointly by the cities of Spanish Fork and Springville, reflecting its role as a shared community airfield for the two neighbouring towns in Utah County.

The Airfield Today

The airport remains open to public use for general aviation, offering 100LL fuel, aircraft rental, flight instruction, and both major airframe and powerplant repair services. Transient aircraft can be accommodated in hangars or on tie-downs. There is no control tower, and operations are coordinated by pilots on the CTAF.
