Person County Airport, publicly known as Raleigh Regional Airport at Person County, is a county-owned facility that has served the Roxboro area for decades. It was previously designated by the FAA as a reliever airport before being reclassified as a general aviation airport in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. For the twelve months ending 30 July 2021 the airport recorded 34,750 aircraft operations, an average of 95 per day, split between general aviation (95%), military (3%) and air taxi (2%) traffic, with 33 aircraft then based on the field, comprising 29 single-engine and four multi-engine types. The airport's existing terminal building dates from the 1980s, and Person County has set aside funding toward a replacement terminal to support continued growth around the airfield.
Raleigh Regional Airport at Person County is described locally as a business-class general aviation airport, with a full parallel taxiway, an FAA-maintained CAT I precision instrument approach supported by MALSR lighting, a PAPI visual glideslope indicator, and AWOS-3 weather reporting. The airport also supports inmate transportation flights connected with the nearby Butner Federal Correctional Complex, a function kept operationally separate from general airport traffic. Person County has reserved funding toward a new terminal building, including a planned observation deck for viewing the airfield, though the airport's current terminal remains the 1980s-era building pending that redevelopment.
