Torrington Municipal has two physical runways. The main runway, 10/28, is 5,672 feet long, has a hard surface, and is lit. The secondary runway, 02/20, is 2,986 feet long with a hard surface and is not lit.
Traffic at Torrington Municipal is handled on a common CTAF/UNICOM frequency of 122.8 MHz. Weather information is available from the field's own ASOS on 118.375 MHz. Denver Center can be reached on 127.95 MHz for those wanting flight-following or advisories in the surrounding airspace. The airport has no ILS.
With no control tower on the field, pilots should make their intentions known and coordinate traffic on the 122.8 MHz CTAF/UNICOM frequency. The airport operator cautions that deer and birds may be present in the vicinity of the airport, which is worth bearing in mind on approach and departure, particularly at dawn and dusk.
The airport sits close to the town of Torrington, two miles to its east, making the town itself a useful visual reference when inbound from the west; beyond this, the surrounding terrain is open Wyoming high plains with no published visual reporting points noted.
Torrington Municipal has long been classed as a general aviation facility; the Federal Aviation Administration's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011 to 2015 placed it in that category, reflecting its role as a local and regional light-aircraft field rather than a commercial gateway.
