Lille Airport (ICAO LFQQ) is the principal commercial aerodrome serving the city of Lille, situated at Lesquin in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France. It is a substantial, fully controlled airport with two paved runways, an ILS approach, and a mix of scheduled, charter and cargo traffic, making it a useful reference point for VFR pilots operating in the area around Lille.
Lille Airport, known locally as Aéroport de Lille or Lille-Lesquin Airport, is a large public airport serving the city of Lille and operated by the Société de gestion de l'aéroport de la région de Lille (SOGAREL). It handles a substantial volume of scheduled, charter and cargo flights, making it one of the busier commercial airports in northern France and a significant feature for any sim pilot flying in the region.
The airport lies at Lesquin, about 7 km south-southeast of the centre of Lille, in the Hauts-de-France region near the border with Belgium. As a major commercial aerodrome it operates within controlled airspace and is served by its own approach and tower control services.
Lille Airport has two hard-surfaced, lit runways. Runway 08/26 is the longer of the two, with runway 08 listed at 9,338 ft and runway 26 at 8,335 ft; runway 26 is equipped with an ILS approach. Runway 01/19 is 5,159 ft in each direction. Field elevation is 144 ft.
