Ikaria Airport (LGIK) is a small regional aerodrome on the south-east coast of Ikaria Island in the North Aegean, serving the island's capital Agios Kyrikos. It has a single asphalt runway and operates under AFIS rather than full air traffic control, making it a straightforward but characterful VFR destination for pilots exploring the Aegean islands.
Ikaria Airport, known locally as Ikaros, is a small state-operated airfield on Ikaria Island in the North Aegean region of Greece. It has served the island since the mid-1990s and provides the main air link for Agios Kyrikos, the island's capital, making it a modest but useful stop for simulator pilots touring the Greek islands.
The airport lies on the south-east coast of Ikaria, close to the settlement of Faros, about 12 km from Agios Kyrikos and roughly 52 km from the port of Evdilos on the northern side of the island. The field sits at coordinates 37.6836N, 26.3478E, at an elevation of 66 feet.
Ikaria has a single physical runway, 15/33, of 4541 feet with a hard surface. Both directions are lit, and there is no ILS installed.
The airfield is served by an Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) on 122.3 MHz, with an additional radio frequency of 563.7 MHz also listed. There is no instrument landing system at Ikaria.
Ikaria Airport has been in operation since 14 June 1995, providing the island with a direct air connection in place of the longer ferry crossings from the mainland.
Ikaria continues to operate as a small regional airport under AFIS control, handling scheduled air services to and from the island.
