Győr-Pér International Airport (LHPR) lies at Pér, a few kilometres southwest of Győr in northwest Hungary, and offers a single long hard-surfaced runway well suited to general aviation and business traffic. Once host to a modest scheduled and charter passenger service, it has had no regular passenger flights since December 2022 and today functions primarily for private and charter operations. Its length and lighting make it a straightforward and interesting stop for the VFR sim pilot exploring western Hungary.

Overview

Győr-Pér is a public commercial airport situated at Pér, near Győr in northwest Hungary. It is operated by Győr-Pér Repülőtér Kft. and has historically served as a base for private and charter flying rather than high-volume scheduled airline traffic, which makes it a pleasant and uncluttered destination for a simulator pilot wanting a taste of Hungarian regional aviation.

Airspace & Location

The airfield sits in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, close to the town of Pér and a short distance from the larger city of Győr, which the airport serves as its nearest major population centre.

Runways

Győr-Pér has a single physical runway, 12/30, 6,644 feet long with a hard surface and runway lighting, giving ample length for a wide range of general aviation and business aircraft.

Radio & Navigation

Aerodrome traffic can be worked on the AAS frequency of 129.9 MHz, while AFIS information is provided on 125.5 MHz under the callsign Budapest Info. No ILS is available at the field.

History

Győr-Pér developed into a public commercial airport serving Győr, and for a period supported scheduled and charter passenger operations; Private Wings Charter operated flights linking the airport with Ingolstadt-Manching in Germany. Passenger numbers rose from under 8,000 in 2004 to a peak of over 33,000 in 2014 before declining again in subsequent years.

The Airfield Today

Since December 2022 there have been no regular passenger flights from Győr-Pér, and the airport's role today centres on private and general aviation activity rather than scheduled commercial services.
