Parma has a single physical runway, 02/20, which is 4985 to 5082 feet long (figures given for each threshold), hard-surfaced and lit. The runway is equipped with an ILS, supporting instrument approaches to at least one end.

Parma Airport opened on 5 May 1991 and takes its popular name, Giuseppe Verdi Airport, from the composer born nearby in the Parma area. In July 2024 a 51 percent shareholding in the airport was purchased by Centreline Airport Partners, a Canadian aviation investment company, marking a change in the airport's ownership structure.
The airport continues to handle scheduled and seasonal airline services, including Ryanair routes to destinations such as Cagliari, London-Stansted, Palermo, Reggio Calabria and Tirana, seasonal Aeroitalia flights to Olbia, and seasonal FlyOne services to Chisinau. In 2024 the airport recorded 133,757 passengers and 4,565 aircraft movements, reflecting a relatively low-intensity traffic environment suited to general aviation visits alongside the scheduled airline operations.
