Triengen Airfield (LSPN) is a small general aviation aerodrome near Triengen in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, home to the Flying Ranch Triengen flying school. Its single hard-surfaced runway and AFIS-only service make it a modest but characterful destination for VFR pilots exploring the Lucerne-Aargau countryside.

Overview

Triengen Airfield lies close to the town of Triengen in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland, and has long served as a base for local general aviation flying and flight training. It is operated in association with the Flying Ranch Triengen flying school, and its short, lit hard-surface runway gives it a compact, workmanlike character that appeals to sim pilots looking for a modest, historic Swiss field rather than a major airport.

Airspace & Location

The airfield is situated at Triengen in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland, at coordinates 47.2267 N, 8.0781 E, with a field elevation of 1591 ft. No further detail on the surrounding airspace classification or neighbouring controlled zones is available from the sources consulted.

Runways

Triengen has a single physical runway, 15/33, which is hard-surfaced and lit. Runway 15 is recorded at 1751 ft while runway 33 is recorded at 1392 ft, indicating differing landing distances available for each direction; there is no ILS or other instrument approach aid at the field.

Radio & Navigation

The airfield is served by an Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) on 124.525 MHz. No navaids or instrument approach procedures are associated with the field.

History

Triengen Airfield was founded in 1947 by Heinrich Müller, a farmer and innkeeper from Triengen with a passion for flying. In the years that followed a farm and a larger hangar were built on the site, and by 1965 the field was regarded as a regular airport for pilots from the Lucerne and Aargau regions. The airfield celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 1997.

The Airfield Today

The field continues to support local general aviation activity and is associated with the Flying Ranch Triengen flying school. Prior permission is required for visiting aircraft.
