Bursa Yenişehir Airport (LTBR) is a joint public/military airfield serving the city of Bursa from the town of Yenişehir in Bursa Province, Turkey. It has operated since November 2000 and offers a pair of long, hard-surfaced parallel runways with an ILS approach, making it a straightforward destination for both airline and general aviation traffic in a simulator.

Overview

Bursa Yenişehir Airport, known also by its IATA code YEI, sits at Yenişehir in Bursa Province and serves as the air gateway to the city of Bursa. It is operated as a public airport with a military character, and today handles scheduled domestic and international airline services alongside general aviation movements. For a simulator pilot it offers a substantial, well-equipped field with a long instrument runway, useful for practising airline-style approaches or simply for exploring a lesser-known Turkish airport.

Airspace & Location

The airport lies at coordinates 40.2561 N, 29.5619 E, at an elevation of 755 feet, in the town of Yenişehir within Bursa Province, Turkey. It is positioned to serve the wider city of Bursa, which lies some distance from the field itself.

Runways

The airport has two parallel physical runways aligned 07/25. Runway 07R/25L is 9,780 feet long, hard surfaced and lit. Runway 07L/25R is 9,767 feet long, hard surfaced and lit, with an ILS serving the 25R approach direction.

Radio & Navigation

Radio services are provided combined as TWR/APP. Approach can be contacted on 120.325 MHz, ground movements on 121.95 MHz, and tower on 122.1 MHz. An ILS is available for runway 25R.

History

Yenişehir Airport opened on 3 November 2000 and was built as a public airport with a military role, serving Bursa. Over the following decades it developed both domestic and international scheduled services, with traffic through the field growing markedly in recent years, including a notable rise in international passenger numbers.

The Airfield Today

Bursa Yenişehir Airport continues to function as a medium-sized airport handling scheduled airline operations. AJet operates domestic services to destinations including Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Muş and Trabzon, while SunExpress flies domestic routes to Adana/Mersin and Antalya as well as international services to Düsseldorf and, seasonally, Stuttgart. A new railway station on the Osmaneli-Bursa-Bandırma high-speed line is planned to serve the airport.
