Wiley Post Will Rogers Memorial Airport lies at Utqiaġvik (formerly known as Barrow), Alaska's northernmost town, on the shore of the Chukchi Sea within the Arctic Circle. The field takes its name from aviator Wiley Post and humorist Will Rogers, and today functions as the principal air link for this isolated Arctic community, offering a single instrument-equipped runway that makes it a rewarding and unusual destination for a simulated Arctic flight.
The airport sits at the edge of Utqiaġvik on Alaska's North Slope, close to the Arctic Ocean coastline, with the town itself immediately adjacent to the field. It lies within the airspace overseen by Anchorage Center, well away from any other significant aerodromes given its remote high-latitude location.
PABR has a single physical runway, 08/26, 6685 feet long with a hard surface and runway lighting. An ILS approach is available to runway 08.
Traffic at PABR should monitor the CTAF on 123.6 MHz. An ASOS is available on 132.15 MHz for current weather. Anchorage Center can be contacted on 135.3 MHz, and Barrow Radio, the local flight service station, operates on 122.2 MHz.
The airport is named in memory of aviator Wiley Post and humorist Will Rogers, both closely associated with early Alaskan aviation history.
PABR remains the main airport serving Utqiaġvik, providing scheduled air service and general aviation access to Alaska's North Slope. Prior permission may be required for some operations given the remote and specialised nature of the field.
