Iba Airport (RPUI) is a small feeder aerodrome on the Zambales coast of Central Luzon, in the Philippines, serving the town of Iba. It is used primarily for general aviation and flight training, most notably by the All Asia Aviation Academy, and also supports Philippine Air Force training activity.

Overview

Iba Airport is a public feeder airport operated by the Air Transportation Office (now part of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines) serving the town of Iba, the capital of Zambales province on Luzon. It is one of five airfields in Zambales and today handles almost exclusively general aviation traffic, chiefly flight training. The field is home to All Asia Aviation Academy, which runs its primary flight training base here, making Iba a useful and relatively uncongested destination for a simulated training or touring flight in the northern Philippines.

Airspace & Location

The airport lies in Barangay Santo Rosario, Iba, Zambales, on the western coast of Central Luzon. It is classified as a feeder airport by the Philippine civil aviation authorities, a category applied to smaller domestic fields outside the major international and principal airport network. No specific controlled airspace detail is given in available sources, but as a feeder aerodrome it sits within uncontrolled or lightly controlled airspace typical of Philippine general aviation fields away from the major terminal areas.

Runways

Iba Airport has a single physical runway aligned 14/32, with a hard surface. The declared length from Runway 32 is 2,953 feet and from Runway 14 is 2,022 feet. There is no ILS or other instrument approach aid at the field. Field elevation is 10 feet.

Radio & Navigation

The published frequency for Iba Airport is a Multicom frequency of 121.9 MHz. No dedicated air traffic control or navaid information is available for the field, and there is no instrument approach or ILS.

History

Iba Airport has long served as a training area for the Philippine Air Force, and for much of its existence has been used predominantly by general aviation rather than any scheduled commercial service. As a feeder airport under the old Air Transportation Office, it formed part of the wider network of smaller domestic airfields maintained across the Philippines outside the major international gateways. In more recent years it has become established as a flight-training hub, with private flight schools, including All Asia Aviation Academy, basing operations there.

The Airfield Today

Iba Airport today is used mainly for general aviation and flight training rather than any scheduled airline service. All Asia Aviation Academy operates its primary training base at the airport, describing it as offering a relatively uncongested training environment compared with busier fields nearer Metro Manila, with student pilots conducting circuits and training flights from the field. The airport also continues to support Philippine Air Force training use.
