Ministro Victor Konder International Airport (SBNF/NVT) serves Navegantes on the Santa Catarina coast of southern Brazil, along with the nearby cities of Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú and Blumenau. It is a single-runway international field handling scheduled jet services from major Brazilian carriers, making it a useful and reasonably busy VFR/IFR destination for simulator pilots exploring the southern Brazilian coastline.

Overview

Navegantes–Ministro Victor Konder International Airport lies on the coastal plain of Santa Catarina state, serving the town of Navegantes itself as well as the larger urban centres of Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú and, further inland, Blumenau. It has grown from a modest regional field into a full international airport handling domestic jet services from Azul, Gol and LATAM, and is named after Victor Konder, a native of nearby Itajaí who served as Brazil's Minister of Public Works in the late 1920s and whose tenure helped foster the country's early commercial aviation industry.

Airspace & Location

The airport sits close to the Brazilian coast in the Itajaí Valley region of Santa Catarina, roughly 7 km from Itajaí, 12 km from Navegantes, 20 km from Balneário Camboriú and 45 km from Blumenau. It functions as the principal air gateway for this cluster of coastal and near-coastal towns.

Runways

The field has a single hard-surfaced runway pair, 07/25, measuring 5,570 feet in length and lit for night operations. There is no ILS installed.

Radio & Navigation

Traffic is worked by Navegantes Approach on 119.5 MHz and Navegantes Tower on 118.2 MHz, with an ATIS broadcast available on 127.625 MHz.

History

The airport was formally named after Victor Konder (1886-1941), an Itajaí-born politician who served as Minister of Public Works from 1926 to 1930 and whose administration is credited with encouraging the birth of Brazilian commercial aviation; the name was adopted on 10 June 1959. At the time the airport was founded, Navegantes was still a district of Itajaí; following its emancipation as a separate municipality in 1961, the airport's name was formally adapted to reflect this by presidential decree on 30 December 2002. The field was operated by the state enterprise Infraero from 1980 until 2021, when CCR won a 30-year concession to run it following a federal privatisation auction in April 2021. CCR was rebranded as Motiva in mid-2025, and in November 2025 Motiva's entire airport portfolio, including Navegantes, was sold to the Mexican operator ASUR, a transaction still pending government approval as of February 2026.

The Airfield Today

Navegantes today operates as an international airport under the Motiva concession (pending transfer to ASUR), handling scheduled services from Azul, Gol and LATAM Brasil to destinations including Campinas, Rio de Janeiro-Galeao, and the Sao Paulo airports of Congonhas and Guarulhos, with seasonal routes to cities such as Belo Horizonte-Confins, Chapeco and Brasilia. It serves as the main air link for Navegantes, Itajai, Balneario Camboriu and Blumenau.
