Lankaran International Airport lies on Azerbaijan's Caspian coast, serving the city of Lankaran in the country's south-east. Lankaran International Airport (ICAO: UBBL) serves the coastal city of Lankaran in south-eastern Azerbaijan, close to the Caspian Sea and not far from the border with Iran. It is government-operated and, despite its modest traffic levels, boasts a notably long paved runway equipped with an instrument landing system, making it a useful and interesting stop for VFR and IFR simulator flights in the region.
The airport sits at the city of Lankaran in the Lankaran Rayon of south-eastern Azerbaijan, at coordinates 38.7586N, 48.8064E, close to the Caspian coastline.
The airport has a single physical runway, 15/33, aligned north-west to south-east. It measures 10,791 feet in length with a hard (asphalt) surface, and an ILS is provided for approaches to runway 33.
An instrument landing system serves runway 33, but no published communication frequencies for the airport are currently known.
The airport underwent reconstruction between 2005 and 2008, at the end of which it was granted international airport status. It has historically handled a limited scheduled service, with Utair having operated flights connecting Lankaran to Moscow-Vnukovo.
