Departure
Lower the nose and add power to raise climb speed to 176 kt.
What happened: Climb speed was 153 kt against a target of 176 kt, running 23 kt slow through the climb.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against the climb target of 176 kt.
Arrival
In the last part of the flare, hold a little more back pressure to fully arrest the sink before the mains touch down.
What happened: Threshold speed and height were within limits, and the flare began on time and arrested the sink normally; even so, the touchdown rate was 270 fpm, a firm touchdown.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smooth, gentle rate at touchdown
Between four hundred and a thousand feet you're heavy, close to the ground and still carrying flap, and speed is the margin holding all three apart. Slow here doesn't feel like anything — the aeroplane climbs, the nose is up, nothing complains — right up until a turn, a gust or a bank tightens the wing's job and the margin is already gone. The fix is rarely "fly faster", it's lowering the nose a degree and letting the speed build before the next thing you do. Pitch buys altitude, speed buys options, and at this height options are the scarcer of the two.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,233 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 326 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 26 at EETN Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport in six minutes, covering approximately one nautical mile.
During the departure roll on runway 26, the Boeing 737-700 accelerated through a takeoff distance of 2,172 m, representing 63 % of the available runway, and lifted off at 140 kt; ambient temperature at the time was 14 °C.
Climb commenced about one mile north-west of Peetri in Harjumaa, Estonia, with the aircraft ascending from 1,102 ft asl to 21,022 ft asl, a gain of 19,920 ft achieved in eight minutes while covering 41 nm.
The descent began overhead Vana-Vigala in Raplamaa, Estonia, where the flight descended from 20,970 ft asl to 1,343 ft asl, a loss of 19,627 ft over 28 minutes and a distance of 137 nm.
For the final approach, the aircraft was aligned with runway 36 at EVRA Riga International Airport from the south, maintaining a heading of 5.0° at four nautical miles out and an altitude of 1,298 ft agl.
Landing on runway 36, which is 3,233 m long, the aircraft touched down after a ground roll of 324 m; the threshold speed was recorded at 128 kt, slightly above target, and touchdown speed was 123 kt. The vertical speed at touchdown was minus 270 fpm and the touchdown point was offset by 3.5 m from the centreline. Local weather reported a temperature of 8 °C with wind calm at 0 kt from 12°. The total landing distance measured 1,362 m, equivalent to 42 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was judged very good.
The rollout proceeded without deviation, confirming the previously noted alignment quality and completing the landing phase.
Subsequent taxi-in to the parking area took less than one minute and covered less than one nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered 185 nm, required 46 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 1,856 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 entered the final approach to runway 36 at EVRA Riga International Airport from the south on a heading of 5.0° at 4 nm and 1,298 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Local weather was 8 °C with wind 0 kt at 12°; cross-wind and head-wind components were both 0 kt.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a threshold speed slightly above target at 128 kt and achieved a good threshold height. The touchdown point was reached 324 m down the runway, which the report describes as good.
At touchdown the speed was a little fast at 123 kt and the vertical rate was fair at minus 270 fpm. The aircraft touched down slightly misaligned, being 3.5 m off the centreline.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,362 m, representing 42 % of the 3,233 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
Although the landing scored 97.1 %, tightening speed control to meet the target threshold and touchdown speeds would remove the slight overspeed noted. Refining the final alignment to eliminate the 3.5 m lateral deviation will further improve consistency.
