MY FS FLIGHTS

Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,342 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,342 ft of the 9,032 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,260 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 22 at KHOU William P Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. The takeoff distance was 113 feet, which was 1% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots at 129 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. The enroute climb started overhead KHOU William P Hobby Airport and continued for 21 minutes, covering 138 nautical miles and increasing the altitude from 1,044 feet above sea level to 36,367 feet above sea level.
The enroute level cruise started 11 miles east of LA12 Louisiana State Police Troop B Helipad Heliport in Kenner, Louisiana, and lasted for 56 minutes, covering 459 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 37,035 feet above sea level to 13,241 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,794 feet in 20 minutes, covering 127 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 3 miles northwest of Lake Alfred in Florida and lasted for 51 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 12,674 feet above sea level to 9,781 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,893 feet in 3 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute level cruise that started 2 miles northwest of Campbell in Florida and lasted for 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The aircraft then began its descent from 9,639 feet above sea level to 2,499 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,140 feet in 7 minutes, covering 22 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again overhead Fern Park in Florida and lasted for 5 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 17L at KMCO Orlando International Airport was from the north, heading 180.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,265 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 17L was successful, with a touchdown point 876 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -126 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 17 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots at 129 degrees, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 5,058 feet, which was 56% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 9 minutes and covered 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 779 nautical miles, taking 128 minutes, and the aircraft used 11,455 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at KMCO Orlando International Airport, achieving a score of 95.5%. The final approach to runway 17L was initiated from the north, heading 180.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,265 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 143 knots, which is a minor deviation but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown point was located 876 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively short distance. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -126 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled and gentle touchdown.
However, there was a slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 17 feet off the centerline. This deviation is relatively minor and may be attributed to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 129°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 3 knots, which is relatively minimal and should not have significantly impacted the landing.
The total landing distance of 5,058 feet was 56% of the available runway length of 9,032 feet, which is a relatively short landing distance. This suggests that the aircraft was able to maintain a high level of control and stability throughout the landing process. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled roll-out after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to achieve a high score of 95.5%. However, there were some minor deviations, such as the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which may be addressed in future training or operations.
