Reduce your height at the threshold
Even a modest height error carries straight through to the touchdown. Geometry alone says that crossing the threshold 10 feet high on a 3° path moves your touchdown roughly 190 feet further down the runway before the flare adds anything.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,741 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 577 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 12 at L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda. The takeoff distance was 1,882 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 164 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 106 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south east of Saint George, Bermuda, and ascended from an altitude of 603 feet above sea level to 33,542 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,938 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 87 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 85 miles north west of Hamilton, Bermuda, and lasted for 127 minutes, covering a distance of 805 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile north east of Warsaw, New York, and the aircraft descended from 33,996 feet above sea level to 2,992 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,004 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time overhead Malvern, Ontario, Canada, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24L at Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport was made from the north east, heading 227.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,420 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24L, which had a length of 2,741 meters. The threshold height at 106 feet above ground level was excessively over target, but the threshold speed was good at 132 knots. The touchdown point was 156 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 116 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -525 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centreline, but the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 1 degree Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots at 259 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,287 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 996 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 188 minutes. The aircraft used 7,310 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 24L at CYYZ Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 227.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,420 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's speed and altitude were within acceptable limits, but the threshold height at 106 feet agl was excessively over target, indicating a slightly higher-than-desired approach.
Upon landing, the threshold speed was good at 132 knots, which is within the recommended range for a safe touchdown. However, the touchdown point was 156 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. The touchdown speed of 116 knots was also within the acceptable range, but the touchdown rate was very hard at -525 feet per minute (fpm), which may have contributed to the over-run.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or pilot error. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 1°C and wind at 14 knots from 259°, resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 12 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's alignment and touchdown point.
Despite the deviations, the total landing distance of 1,287 meters was only 47% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, it was still considered successful, with some areas for improvement in terms of approach and touchdown parameters.
