Maintain a smooth pitch
When Vr arrives, an abrupt near-full-scale pull, pitch overshoots, a push, and an oscillation through the first 200 ft. It feels like “this aircraft is twitchy” but the actual fault happened before liftoff. The pitch trace needs to show a clean ramp during liftoff.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,190 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 570 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Sedona Airport (KSEZ) took 11 minutes and covered a distance of approximately 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Piper Aerostar 600 (NI22PC), then began its departure roll on runway 21, utilizing 48% of the 750-meter runway to achieve a liftoff speed of 99 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 37°C, with a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 209°, resulting in a 4-knot crosswind and a 16-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed away from Sedona Airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of the airport, ascending from 5,268 feet above sea level to 7,425 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a brief level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering a similar distance. The aircraft then initiated a second enroute climb 14 miles northeast of Lake Montezuma, increasing its altitude from 7,871 feet to 8,884 feet in 3 minutes, while covering 9 nautical miles. A longer level cruise ensued, lasting 20 minutes and covering 65 nautical miles, before the aircraft began its descent 4 miles northwest of Show Low. The descent from 8,604 feet to 6,398 feet in 3 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles, set the stage for the final approach to runway 25 at Show Low Regional Airport (KSOW).
The final approach to runway 25 was made from the east, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 261.0° at 0 nautical miles and -5 feet above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 89 knots, and the aircraft touched down 140 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 84 knots, with a touchdown rate of -21 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. The total landing distance was 919 meters, accounting for 42% of the 2,190-meter runway. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 102 nautical miles, with a flight time of 44 minutes and a fuel consumption of 44 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 25 at KSOW Show Low Regional Airport from the east was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 261.0° at 0 nm and -5 ft agl. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 89 kt, well within the acceptable range. The touchdown point was 140 m beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 84 kt was good, indicating a well-controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -21 fpm was perfect, demonstrating a smooth and stable landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft maintained perfect runway touchdown alignment, with the centreline alignment spot on. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 33 °C and a wind of 13 kt at 320°, presented a moderate crosswind component of 12 kt and a headwind of 6 kt. However, the pilot's skill and experience allowed for a smooth and controlled rollout. The total landing distance of 919 m was 42% of the runway length, indicating a safe and efficient landing.
The overall score for the landing was 97.6%, a testament to the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's performance. The perfect runway rollout alignment and the controlled descent throughout the approach and touchdown phases contributed significantly to this high score. The landing was a textbook example of a well-executed approach and touchdown, with all key performance figures well within the acceptable range.
