Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,026 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,026 m of the 3,658 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 249 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 11 at LCPH Paphos International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,415 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 19 knots at 140 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of Timi in the Paphos District of Cyprus. The climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 94 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,061 feet above sea level to 32,916 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,855 feet. The enroute level cruise started 73 miles south of R084 Cyprus Static Carrier - Queen Elizabeth, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 41 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 56 miles west of Sdot Yam in Haifa, Israel. The descent took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 121 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 32,533 feet above sea level to 3,641 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,893 feet. The final approach to runway 08L at OJAI Queen Alia International Airport was made from the west, heading 80.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,257 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 08L at OJAI Queen Alia International Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 247 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 148 knots, and the touchdown rate was very heavy at -765 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots at 150 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,943 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.3 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 266 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 59 minutes. The aircraft used 2,419 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed on runway 08L at OJAI Queen Alia International Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.7%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the west, heading 80.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,257 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 148 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 247 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast, which may have contributed to the heavy touchdown rate of -765 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 150°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,943 meters was 53% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown position misalignment.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and runway alignment.
