Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,845 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,845 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 451 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 13L at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP). The takeoff distance was 1,218 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 200 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb overhead Vecses, a town in Pest megye, Hungary, and ascended from an altitude of 1,491 feet above sea level to 3,344 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,853 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile south west of Nyaregyhaza, another town in Pest megye, Hungary, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent from an altitude of 2,934 feet above sea level to 1,743 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,190 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The descent started 1 mile south west of Monor, a town in Pest megye, Hungary.
The final approach to runway 31R at LHBP was made from the south east, heading 312.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,280 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 31R, which has a length of 3,701 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 133 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 453 meters, and the touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -286 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 53.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 15 knots from a direction of 199 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 14 knots and a tailwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 1,771 meters, which is 48% of the runway length.
The total flight distance was 28 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes. The aircraft used 773 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, with a score of 87.9%. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 312.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,280 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on runway 31R, which has a length of 3,701 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 133 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 453 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
However, the touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly below the expected range, and the touchdown rate of -286 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair. This suggests that the aircraft may have touched down slightly harder than intended, which could have resulted in a bumpy ride for passengers.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the centerline of the runway as it touched down. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29°C and winds of 15 knots from 199°. The crosswind component was 14 knots, while the tailwind component was 6 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,771 meters was 48% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 53.8 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the aircraft may have drifted off the centerline during the rollout phase, which could have resulted in a longer stopping distance and increased the risk of veering off the runway.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown rate. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was not ideal, which could have resulted in a longer stopping distance and increased the risk of veering off the runway.
