Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,862 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 452 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 34R at OTHH Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. The takeoff distance was 835 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 216 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 34 degrees Celsius and winds of 11 knots at 30 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 7 knots. The enroute climb started shortly after takeoff, with the aircraft ascending from 1,115 feet above sea level to 4,118 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,003 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 4 miles north of OTHH Hamad International Airport and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 4,478 feet above sea level to 32,621 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,143 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 25 miles north of OBBI Bahrain International Airport and lasted for 38 minutes, covering a distance of 293 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 32,463 feet above sea level to 34,078 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,616 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued for another 322 minutes, covering a distance of 2,437 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile north east of Cranfield in England. The descent from 35,036 feet above sea level to 1,377 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,659 feet in 17 minutes, covered a distance of 98 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05R at EGCC Manchester Airport was made from the south west, heading 59.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,146 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 05R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 454 meters and a touchdown speed of 128 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -358 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 15 degrees Celsius and winds of 7 knots at 90 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 829 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2,954 nautical miles, taking 412 minutes to complete, and the aircraft used 54,610 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed on runway 05R at Manchester Airport (EGCC) with a high score of 97.7%. The final approach was initiated from the south-west, heading 59.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,146 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilots maintained a safe and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 138 knots, which is within the acceptable range for a safe landing. The touchdown distance of 454 meters was also within the expected parameters, demonstrating the pilots' ability to control the aircraft's descent and maintain a stable approach. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was also satisfactory, and the touchdown rate of -358 feet per minute (fpm) was firm but not excessive, indicating a controlled and stable landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 90°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach. The runway length of 2,862 meters was more than sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance, and the touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilots maintained a stable and controlled approach.
The total landing distance of 829 meters was only 29% of the runway length, which is an excellent result. This indicates that the pilots were able to control the aircraft's descent and maintain a stable approach, resulting in a short and controlled landing. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating the pilots' ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft touching down safely and controlled on the runway.
