Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,695 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 475 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 01L at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, with a takeoff distance of 1,426 meters, which was 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 161 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -4°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 20°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it started its enroute climb overhead Gardermoen, Norway, and continued to ascend to 33,909 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,146 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 78 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 6 miles east of Stavern, Norway, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 29 miles northwest of Skagen, Denmark, and the aircraft descended from 34,028 feet above sea level to 1,375 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,653 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 10R at EKAH Aarhus Airport was made from the west, heading 100.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,289 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 10R at EKAH Aarhus Airport was successful, with a total landing distance of 1,031 meters, which was 38% of the runway length. The touchdown point was 55 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 136 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -201 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 0°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 80°.
After landing, the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 246 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 60 minutes. The aircraft used 2,176 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EKAH Aarhus Airport, with a final approach score of 99.5%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the west, heading 100.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,289 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 10R, which has a length of 2,695 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed, coming in at 145 knots. This may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed for the landing.
The touchdown point was 55 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate that the aircraft was slightly long on the landing. The touchdown speed was also reported as a little fast, at 136 knots. This could have contributed to the aircraft being slightly beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown rate was fair, at -201 feet per minute (fpm), which is a reasonable rate for a landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 3.8 meters. This may have been due to the crosswind or the pilot's decision to align the aircraft with the runway. The local weather conditions were reported as a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from 80°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,031 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop quickly after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment with the runway after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown point and speed, which may have been due to the wind conditions or the pilot's decision-making.
