Flight Score
Departure
Make small rudder corrections against a point at the far end to hold the centreline.
What happened: During the ground roll you drifted 16 m off the runway centreline.
Watch for: Watch runway alignment against the centreline, correcting with small rudder inputs.

Arrival
Level the wings with coordinated aileron on short final so bank stays near wings-level through touchdown.
What happened: Wings were not level through the landing phase, with bank angle at 1.7° on short final.
Watch for: Watch the bank angle indicator, holding it near wings-level through the landing and touchdown.
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,671 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 727 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 747-8 taxied to runway 23L at NZAA Auckland International Airport and commenced the departure roll. The aircraft lifted off after using 2,576 m of runway, representing 70 % of the available length, at a liftoff speed of 155 kt. Ambient conditions were 14 °C with a wind from 180° at 5 kt, including a 5 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
Climb began one mile south-west of the airport, with the airplane accelerating from 1,049 ft asl to 1,601 ft asl, an altitude gain of 552 ft achieved in one minute while covering three nautical miles.
Level cruise was established three miles south of NZAA and persisted for three minutes, during which the aircraft progressed nine nautical miles at a constant altitude.
Descent was initiated two miles east of Manukau City, descending from 1,545 ft asl to 924 ft asl, a loss of 621 ft over two minutes and a distance of four nautical miles.
The first final approach to runway 23L commenced from 1,492 ft agl and descended to 82 ft agl in 102 seconds, with the flight receiving a score on the stabilisation gates.
A go-around was executed on runway 23L when the aircraft reached 31 ft agl, prompting a climb-out before a subsequent approach.
A second final approach to runway 23L started at 1,461 ft agl and descended to 85 ft agl in 103 seconds, again earning a stabilisation-gate score.
Landing on runway 23L, which is 3,671 m long, was performed with a threshold speed of 142 kt. Touchdown occurred 312 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 130 kt and a vertical rate of minus 135 fpm; the touchdown point was offset 4.7 m from the centreline. Weather conditions remained 14 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 180°, including the same cross-wind and head-wind components.
Rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,394 m, representing 38 % of the runway, and the alignment during rollout was recorded as very good.
In summary, the flight covered 63 nm, required approximately 9 minutes 25 seconds of airborne time based on the recorded phase durations, and consumed 3,775 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 747-8 executed a stabilised approach to runway 23L at NZAA Auckland International Airport, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits as assessed at the 1,000 ft gate. Descent was recorded from 1,492 ft AGL to 82 ft AGL in 102 seconds and from 1,461 ft AGL to 85 ft AGL in 103 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 142 kt. The touchdown point was 312 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the aircraft crossed the threshold at a speed of 130 kt, which was judged good. The flare produced a smooth touchdown rate of minus 135 fpm, though the touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.7 m from the centreline.
Touchdown occurred with the runway touchdown position offset 4.7 m from centreline, while the speed and rate remained within the good limits noted earlier. The aircraft’s alignment at touchdown was otherwise acceptable.
Rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,394 m, representing 38 % of the 3,671 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Local weather was 14 °C with wind 5 kt from 180°, including a 5 kt crosswind component and a 2 kt headwind component.
To refine future landings, aim to centre the touchdown within the runway centreline to reduce the 4.7 m offset, and adjust the flare to place the touchdown point closer to the intended 300 m (1,000 ft) aim point while preserving the smooth rate already achieved.
