Improve the pattern base leg turn
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,488 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 360 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde, the aircraft initiated its takeoff roll on runway 23. The Legacy G3X GTN750XI accelerated smoothly, reaching liftoff speed of 112 kt in a distance of 722 m, which accounted for 29% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16 °C and a negligible wind of 1 kt from 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind component.
As the aircraft entered the right-hand traffic pattern, it maintained a steady pace, completing the pattern entry in less than 1 nm in 86 seconds. The subsequent crosswind correction was executed efficiently, requiring a mere 11 seconds to align the aircraft with the runway. The pilot then initiated the downwind turn, covering a distance of 3 nm at an angle of 16.7° to the runway. Following the downwind leg, the aircraft turned onto the base leg, covering another 3 nm at an angle of 172.6° to the runway. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, with the aircraft descending to 266 ft agl at a heading of 51.0°.
The Legacy G3X GTN750XI touched down on runway 05 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde, utilizing a touchdown distance of 364 m and a speed of 85 kt. The touchdown rate of -158 fpm was within acceptable limits, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total flight distance of 6 nm was completed in 4 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 3 kg. The landing was executed smoothly, with the pilot maintaining good control throughout the approach and landing phases.
The final approach to runway 05 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde from the south west was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 51.0° at 0 nm and 266 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 102 kt, well within the acceptable range. As the aircraft descended onto the runway, it touched down at a distance of 364 m, a respectable figure considering the runway length of 2,493 m. The touchdown speed of 85 kt was also within the desired parameters, and the touchdown rate of -158 fpm was well within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining its centreline alignment throughout the rollout phase. The local weather conditions were favourable, with a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle wind of 1 kt at 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and tailwind component. The aircraft's performance was impressive, with a score of 99.6% indicating a near-perfect landing. The pilot's skill and experience were evident in the smooth and controlled manner in which the aircraft was brought to a stop.
The rollout phase was equally impressive, with the aircraft maintaining its centreline alignment and coming to a stop in a short distance. The overall score of 99.6% reflects the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot, and the aircraft's performance was a testament to its capabilities. The landing was a textbook example of a well-executed approach and touchdown, with all parameters well within the acceptable range.
