Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,507 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 540 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 24L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 70% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 2,785 meters, and the liftoff speed was 153 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 129 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a tailwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of the airport and rising from an altitude of 1,195 feet above sea level to 27,006 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,811 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 46 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles northwest of Moryn, Poland, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 27,550 feet above sea level to 36,475 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,925 feet, in 7 minutes and covering a distance of 60 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 5 miles north of Niekursko, Poland, and lasted for 27 minutes, covering a distance of 217 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 3 miles south of Grabowo, Poland, and descending from 37,050 feet above sea level to 2,042 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,008 feet, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 107 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 01 at EYVI Vilnius International Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading at 22.0 degrees and at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,411 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 01, which had a length of 2,507 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 138 knots. The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 129 knots. However, the touchdown rate was good at -166 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 120 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 0 knots. The total landing distance was 1,341 meters, which was 53% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 451 nautical miles and took 83 minutes to complete, using 3,781 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at EYVI Vilnius International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 22.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,411 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a slight deviation in heading, but the aircraft maintained a stable and controlled descent.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 01, which has a length of 2,507 meters. The threshold height at 56 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating a minor deviation in the aircraft's descent. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 138 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly fast on approach.
The touchdown point was located 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -166 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating a controlled and stable touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -10°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 120°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 0 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,341 meters, which is 53% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and the pilot executed the landing smoothly. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing roll.
Overall, the Airbus A321 landed safely and efficiently at EYVI Vilnius International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.7%. The pilot's skill and control during the landing were evident in the aircraft's stable and controlled descent, as well as the short landing distance and perfect runway rollout alignment.
