Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,321 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,321 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 148 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 31 at KFHB Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport. The Cessna C172 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 219 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 58 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 226 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The aircraft ascended from an altitude of 681 feet above sea level to 2,104 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,423 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The climb was a smooth and efficient one, allowing the aircraft to reach its cruising altitude quickly.
After reaching its cruising altitude, the aircraft began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile northeast of FL84 Flying-A-Ranch Airport. The descent was from an altitude of 2,099 feet above sea level to 496 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,602 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The descent was also a smooth and efficient one, allowing the aircraft to reach its final approach altitude quickly.
The final approach to runway 13 at KFHB Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 124.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 474 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 1,321 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed of 70 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 146 meters, but the touchdown speed was a bit fast at 65 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -296 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 319 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 5 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 3 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 10 nautical miles, and the flight took 9 minutes to complete. Notably, the aircraft used 0 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at KFHB Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, achieving a high score of 98.9%. The final approach was conducted from the northwest, heading 124.0° at 1 nautical mile and 474 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing on runway 13.
The runway length at KFHB Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport is 1,321 meters, providing a sufficient distance for the aircraft to touch down safely. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude when approaching the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed of 70 kt, which may indicate a slight delay in the aircraft's descent.
The touchdown distance of 146 meters was considered good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold. However, the touchdown speed of 65 kt was reported as fast, suggesting that the aircraft may have been able to touch down at a slower speed. The touchdown rate of -296 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating that the aircraft's descent was not as smooth as it could have been.
Despite these minor issues, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control and precision during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 6 kt from 319°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the tailwind component was 5 kt, which may have contributed to the aircraft's slightly fast touchdown speed.
The total landing distance of 480 meters was 36% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop safely within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control and precision during the rollout phase of the landing. Overall, the Cessna C172 aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the landing, achieving a high score of 98.9%.
