Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 874 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 874 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 356 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at LOWW Vienna International Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering 2 nautical miles. Departure roll occurred on runway 29, with a takeoff distance of 1,265 meters, which is 36% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 310 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 14 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of the airport and ascending from 1,024 feet above sea level to 27,208 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,183 feet in 14 minutes and covering 65 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting overhead Weiz, Austria, and lasting 40 minutes, covering 226 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles east of Baricella, Italy, and descending from 26,747 feet above sea level to 18,500 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,248 feet in 3 minutes and covering 21 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile northwest of Borgo Tossignano, Italy, and lasting 2 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent again, starting overhead Palazzuolo sul Senio, Italy, and descending from 18,394 feet above sea level to 4,595 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,798 feet in 9 minutes and covering 41 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile northwest of Certaldo, Italy, and lasting 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent once more, starting 2 miles southwest of Gambassi Terme, Italy, and descending from 4,296 feet above sea level to 2,942 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,355 feet in 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 2 miles northwest of Montaione, Italy, and lasting 5 minutes, covering 16 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 05 at LIRQ Florence Airport, Peretola, was made from the southwest, heading 48.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,270 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 05 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 356 meters and a touchdown speed of 132 knots. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -440 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,327 meters, which is 152% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.2 meters from the centerline. Taxiing to the parking from the runway took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 396 nautical miles, taking 90 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,695 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question, an E195, successfully landed at LIRQ Florence Airport, Peretola, with a final approach from the southwest. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,270 feet above ground level (agl) and 4 nautical miles from the runway when it began its descent. The approach was made at a heading of 48.0°, which is slightly off the ideal approach path for runway 05.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed of 140 knots, coming in at 140 kt. The touchdown distance of 356 meters was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 132 kt was also good. However, the touchdown rate of -440 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, indicating a relatively steep descent.
One notable issue with the landing was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 13.2 meters. This could be due to a variety of factors, including pilot error or a discrepancy in the aircraft's navigation systems. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly off-centerline by 12.2 meters, which could indicate a loss of directional control during the landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 5 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the touchdown and rollout positions.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, but with some areas for improvement. The aircraft's speed and distance parameters were within acceptable limits, but the hard touchdown rate and misaligned touchdown and rollout positions indicate a need for further refinement in the pilot's technique.
