Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,507 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 258 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from EYKA Kaunas International Airport's runway 26 was smooth, with the C-160 Transall Classic taking off in 1,305 meters, utilizing 49% of the available runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 157 knots, overcoming a headwind of 8 knots and a crosswind of 5 knots. The local temperature was 15 degrees Celsius, with a wind direction of 233 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of Kaunas, it transitioned into an enroute climb phase, reaching an altitude of 1,668 feet above sea level in just 1 minute, covering 2 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a brief level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another climb phase, this time reaching an altitude of 2,582 feet above sea level in 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The final level cruise phase lasted 13 minutes, covering 50 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent towards EYVI Vilnius International Airport, aligning with runway 01 from the south.
The final approach to runway 01 was executed at a heading of 22.0 degrees, 4 nautical miles from the threshold, and at an altitude of 893 feet above ground level. The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 113 knots, with a touchdown distance of 256 meters. The touchdown rate was fair at -273 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking 2 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 72 nautical miles, consuming 605 kilograms of fuel, and the total landing distance was 1,162 meters, utilizing 46% of the available runway.
The final approach to runway 01 at EYVI Vilnius International Airport from the south was executed with a heading of 22.0° at 4 nautical miles and 893 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a good approach quality, with a smooth descent and a stable flight path. The threshold height was satisfactory, allowing for a controlled touchdown.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, it achieved a speed of 113 knots, which was slightly below the threshold speed of 116 knots. The touchdown distance was good, at 256 meters, and the touchdown rate was fair at -273 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating a high degree of accuracy in the pilot's control of the aircraft. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 12°C and a wind of 10 knots at 233°, contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,162 meters was 46% of the runway length, indicating a satisfactory use of the available runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 22.2 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 91.4%, reflecting a high degree of proficiency in the pilot's execution of the landing.
