Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,123 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 597 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 13L at EDDK Cologne Bonn Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,341 meters, which is 35% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 158 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 20°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at a direction of 70°. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of EDDK Cologne Bonn Airport. The climb took 18 minutes and covered 82 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,301 feet above sea level to 34,470 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,168 feet.
The enroute level cruise started overhead EBTN Goetsenhoven Airfield Tienen, and lasted for 440 minutes, covering 834 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile north of Arganil, Portugal. The descent took 31 minutes and covered 106 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 34,813 feet above sea level to 1,657 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,156 feet.
The final approach to runway 02 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) was made from the south, with a heading of 23.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,301 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 02, which has a length of 3,123 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 157 knots.
The touchdown point was 189 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 155 knots, which was fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -112 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.9 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 17°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 340°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,231 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,029 nautical miles, taking 195 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,572 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) with a score of 96.0%. The final approach to runway 02 was initiated from the south, with a heading of 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,301 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a steady course as it descended towards the runway, ultimately touching down on the runway surface.
The touchdown point was located 189 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 155 knots was slightly above the target speed, resulting in a relatively fast touchdown. The rate of descent was smooth, with a touchdown rate of -112 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled and stable approach.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.9 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 17°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 340°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which may have contributed to the slight deviation from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 1,231 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a high level of control and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining a straight course as it decelerated from touchdown speed.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely on the runway surface. While there were some minor deviations from the intended landing spot, the pilot was able to maintain control and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases, resulting in a high score of 96.0%.
