Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,680 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 720 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 25 at UNOO Omsk Central Airport in Omsk, Russia. The takeoff distance was 720 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 98 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 190 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles west of UNOO Omsk Central Airport and reaching an altitude of 7,000 feet above sea level. The climb was completed in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles and an increase in altitude of 5,687 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 75 minutes and covered a distance of 298 nautical miles. This phase of the flight took place 5 miles south of ULUZ Luzino Airport in Luzino, Russia. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 27 miles east of Chulym in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia. The descent from 7,054 feet to 4,993 feet above sea level was completed in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 3 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. This phase took place 19 miles west of Kolyvan' in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia. The aircraft then began its second descent, starting 10 miles southwest of Kolyvan' and reaching an altitude of 4,114 feet above sea level. The descent was completed in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 3 minutes and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. This phase took place 5 miles north of UNNT Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk, Russia. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 2 miles south of Ob' in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia. The descent from 3,855 feet to 1,640 feet above sea level was completed in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 34 at UNNT Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 349.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 34, which had a length of 3,680 meters. The threshold height at 60 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, while the threshold speed was well above the target at 79 knots.
The touchdown point was 288 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 74 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -125 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 16.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 240 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 943 meters, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.3 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at UNNT Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 349.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the approach was satisfactory, but there were some discrepancies in terms of speed and alignment.
Upon landing, the threshold height was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft touched down at a slightly higher altitude than desired. However, the threshold speed was significantly above the target, reaching 79 knots, which is faster than the recommended speed for landing. This could be a concern, as excessive speed during landing can lead to a longer rollout distance and increased wear on the aircraft's brakes.
The touchdown point was located 288 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the ideal landing position. The touchdown speed of 74 knots was also faster than the recommended speed, indicating that the aircraft may have been experiencing some drag or other factors that affected its descent rate. Fortunately, the touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -125 feet per minute, which is within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned, with the aircraft deviating from the centerline by 16.1 meters. This could be a concern, as a misaligned landing can lead to uneven wear on the runway and increased risk of accidents. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 240°, were relatively calm, which should not have significantly impacted the aircraft's performance.
The total landing distance was 943 meters, which is 26% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, but it could be attributed to the aircraft's high speed and the misaligned touchdown position. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned, with the aircraft deviating from the centerline by 14.3 meters. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some notable deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters that should be addressed to improve the aircraft's performance and safety.
