Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,130 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 227 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, LFBO. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 32R, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 2,391 meters, which was 79% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 169 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 60 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Cornebarrieu in the Occitanie region of France. During this phase, the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,488 feet above sea level to 27,218 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,730 feet, in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 66 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile east of Monassut-Audiracq in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 35 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 1 mile south of Alos-Sibas-Abense in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. During this phase, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 27,222 feet above sea level to 1,587 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,635 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at Bilbao Airport, LEBB, was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 297.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,454 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 30, which had a length of 2,130 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 145 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 228 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 140 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -301 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 290 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 16 knots. The total landing distance was 859 meters, which was 40% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 7 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 197 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 54 minutes. The aircraft used 2,293 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at LEBB Bilbao Airport, achieving a score of 98.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, heading 297.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,454 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 30, which has a length of 2,130 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 145 knots. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly faster than desired during the final stages of the approach. However, the touchdown distance was good at 228 meters, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the landing.
The touchdown speed was reported as a little fast at 140 knots, which may have contributed to a firm touchdown rate of -301 feet per minute (fpm). This is a relatively high rate, indicating that the aircraft may have touched down with a bit more force than desired. Despite this, the runway touchdown position was only slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 16 knots from 290°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 16 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly fast touchdown speed.
The total landing distance was 859 meters, which is approximately 40% of the runway length. This is a relatively short distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also reported as very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled rollout after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were a few areas for improvement, including the slightly fast touchdown speed and firm touchdown rate. However, the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability throughout the landing, and the runway rollout alignment was excellent.
