MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,027 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 307 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna Longitude, then departed from runway 27 at KARR Aurora Municipal Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,963 feet, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 146 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 63°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 2 knots was present. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Big Rock, Illinois, and ascended from an altitude of 1,705 feet above sea level to 24,995 feet above sea level, a total increase of 23,290 feet, in 8 minutes and covering a distance of 32 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile north of Braceville, Illinois, and lasted for 60 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 462 nautical miles. The descent from the cruise altitude began 1 mile south-east of 28NR Dry Pond Airport, Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and lasted for 14 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 25,004 feet above sea level to 2,018 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 22,986 feet, and covered a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 36C at KCLT Charlotte Douglas International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 356.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 36C, which had a length of 10,027 feet. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was well above the target speed at 121 knots.
The touchdown point was 250 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 120 knots, which was considered fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -367 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 35 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 62°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°, with a crosswind of 2 knots and no headwind.
The total landing distance was 2,297 feet, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 35 feet from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 551 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 89 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna Longitude successfully landed on runway 36C at KCLT Charlotte Douglas International Airport, achieving a score of 93.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 356.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,272 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 121 knots. However, the touchdown point was 250 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the pilot may have been slightly off-target. The touchdown speed of 120 knots was also faster than desired, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -367 feet per minute (fpm). This firm touchdown rate may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 35 feet.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 62°F and a gentle wind of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and there was no headwind. The total landing distance of 2,297 feet was 23% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centerline by 35 feet, indicating that the pilot may have struggled to maintain a straight course. Despite these minor issues, the Cessna Longitude landed safely and efficiently, demonstrating the aircraft's capabilities and the pilot's skills.
