Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,842 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,842 m of the 2,692 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 739 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 08R at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR). The takeoff distance was 1,402 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 182 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 23°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 150°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead the Vancouver International Seaplane Base (CAM9), where the aircraft climbed from 1,015 feet above sea level to 33,051 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,036 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 101 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 14 miles northeast of Lytton (CYLY), and lasted for 82 minutes, covering a distance of 689 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 33,083 feet above sea level to 34,556 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,473 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 17 miles west of Pelican Narrows (Saskatchewan, Canada), and lasted for 251 minutes, covering a distance of 2,215 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its journey, climbing from 35,340 feet above sea level to 36,759 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,419 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started at a location with coordinates 59.680705 latitude and -31.328637 longitude, and lasted for 139 minutes, covering a distance of 1,198 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 10 miles south of Eastbourne (East Sussex, England). The descent from 37,039 feet above sea level to 1,743 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,296 feet in 32 minutes, covering a distance of 131 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 27R at Charles de Gaulle International Airport (LFPG) was from the east, heading 265.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,383 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 27R was successful, with the touchdown point being 319 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 127 knots, which was slightly below the target speed. The touchdown rate was good at -180 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots at 240°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,757 meters, which accounted for 65% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 4,376 nautical miles, taking a total of 536 minutes, and the aircraft used 69,792 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport on runway 27R, achieving a score of 91.0%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 265.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,383 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 319 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-target. However, the touchdown speed of 127 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -180 feet per minute (fpm) was also good. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline, but this did not significantly impact the overall landing performance.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 14°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 240°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,757 meters was 65% of the available runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient stopping distance to safely come to a stop. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a good touchdown speed and rate, and a relatively short landing distance. However, the slight misalignment of the touchdown position and the touchdown point beyond the touchdown zone are areas for improvement.
