MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,604 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,604 m of the 2,959 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,016 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft, departing from Ajaccio-Napoléon Bonaparte Airport (LFKJ) and landing at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport (LFMN). The taxiing process from the parking to the runway took less than a minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
As the aircraft took off from runway 20 at LFKJ, it covered a takeoff distance of 932 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 150 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 17°C, a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°, with no crosswind or headwind.
After taking off, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles southeast of Ajaccio. The climb was from an altitude of 1,017 feet above sea level (asl) to 23,805 ft asl, an increase of 22,788 ft in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 36 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off for a short period of 3 minutes, covering 11 nautical miles, before starting another climb 3 miles southeast of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
The second climb was from 3,011 ft asl to 4,272 ft asl, an increase of 1,260 ft in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting overhead Beausoleil, and descended from 4,307 ft asl to 1,923 ft asl, a decrease of 2,384 ft in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 22L at LFMN was made from the north-east, heading 225.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,893 ft above ground level (agl). The landing was made on runway 22L, which had a length of 2,959 meters. However, the threshold height at 130 ft agl was excessively over target, and the threshold speed was too high at 156 kt.
The touchdown point was 430 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 135 kt, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very hard at -530 ft per minute (fpm), and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°, with a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 1 kt.
The total landing distance was 1,354 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing process from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 141 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 35 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 20 kg.
The Airbus A320 aircraft has successfully landed at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The final approach to runway 22L was initiated from the north east, heading 225.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,893 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the landing was not executed perfectly.
One of the main concerns was the excessive height at the threshold, which was 130 feet agl, significantly above the target. This indicates that the aircraft may have been too high during the approach, potentially leading to a longer landing distance. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 156 knots, which is above the recommended speed for landing. This could have resulted in a longer landing distance and potentially increased the risk of an overrun.
The touchdown point was 430 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was also a little fast, which could have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -530 feet per minute (fpm). This high touchdown rate is a concern as it can put excessive stress on the aircraft's landing gear and potentially lead to damage.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.8 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or headwind conditions. However, the local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15°C and winds of 1 knot at 270°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 1 knot, which is relatively minimal.
Despite the issues with the landing, the total landing distance of 1,354 meters was only 46% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop relatively quickly. The runway rollout alignment was very good, which suggests that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the aircraft was able to stop safely and the pilot was able to maintain control throughout the landing. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of reducing the touchdown speed and improving the threshold height.
