Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,791 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 655 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport. This process took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 07L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 41% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,229 meters, and the liftoff speed was 153 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 17°C temperature and 8 knots of headwind at 49 degrees. The enroute climb started 1 mile southwest of Bohnsdorf, Germany, and the aircraft ascended from 1,176 feet above sea level to 35,410 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,235 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany, and lasted for 74 minutes, covering 526 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 9 miles northwest of Erquy, France, and descended from 35,320 feet above sea level to 4,075 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,245 feet in 11 minutes, covering 64 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again overhead Bodilis, France, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering 22 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 1 mile northeast of Breles, France, and descended from 3,990 feet above sea level to 1,575 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,415 feet in 5 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07R at LFRB Brest Bretagne Airport took place from the west, with the aircraft heading 71.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,257 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 2,791 meters, and the threshold height was above the target at 69 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 146 knots.
The touchdown point was 243 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 143 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -252 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 13°C temperature and 6 knots of headwind at 10 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,421 meters, which was 51% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. The aircraft then taxiied to the parking area from the runway, taking 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 748 nautical miles, and the flight took 130 minutes. The aircraft used 6,208 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LFRB Brest Bretagne Airport, achieving a score of 89.9%. The final approach to runway 07R was initiated from the west, with a heading of 71.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,257 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the touchdown point located 243 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further during the approach. The touchdown rate of -252 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not excessively steep.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 10°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions were relatively calm, which likely contributed to the successful landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was reported to be very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The total landing distance of 1,421 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the target parameters.
