Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,614 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,614 m of the 1,974 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 228 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a CRJ900, then departed from runway 16 at KGCC Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport, located in Northeast Wyoming. The takeoff distance was 1,943 meters, which was 85% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and winds of 2 knots at 21 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was 2 knots. After departing from KGCC, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of the airport and climbing from 5,515 feet above sea level to 13,365 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,850 feet in 5 minutes and covering a distance of 21 nautical miles.
The enroute climb was followed by a level cruise, which started 4 miles east of WY12 Ohman Ranch Airport and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles southwest of WY07 Hardy Ranch Airport and descending from 13,377 feet above sea level to 6,185 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,192 feet in 8 minutes and covering a distance of 28 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 11 at KDGW Converse County Airport was made from the northwest, heading 118.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,264 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 11, which had a length of 1,974 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 140 knots. The touchdown distance was 231 meters, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, both of which were good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and winds of 13 knots at 170 degrees. The crosswind was 10 knots, and the headwind was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 1,534 meters, which was 78% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 101 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 32 minutes. The aircraft used 945 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed at KDGW Converse County Airport, achieving a score of 92.1%. The final approach was conducted from the northwest, heading 118.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,264 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 11, which has a length of 1,974 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 140 knots, indicating a well-executed approach. The touchdown distance of 231 meters was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 134 knots was good, but the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -591 feet per minute (fpm). This may indicate a slightly aggressive approach, but it did not compromise the safety of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and wind speeds of 13 knots at 170°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,534 meters was 78% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline. This may indicate a slight deviation from the intended path during the rollout phase, but it did not appear to have any significant consequences.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance were sufficient to ensure a safe and controlled landing.
