Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,603 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 179 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Wenzhou Longwan International Airport (ZSWZ). This process took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 03, and the aircraft lifted off after a takeoff distance of 1,315 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 1,032 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 26,612 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,580 feet in 11 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 52 nautical miles. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile north of ZSWZ Wenzhou Longwan International Airport.
The enroute level cruise started 24 miles south of Lishui, Zhejiang Sheng, China, and lasted for 27 minutes, covering a distance of 168 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 5 miles southwest of Putian, Fujian Sheng, China. The descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 44 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 26,538 feet above sea level to 1,272 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 03 at Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport (ZSQZ) was made from the southwest, heading 30.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,247 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 03, which had a length of 2,603 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 134 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 180 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 133 knots. The touchdown rate was very hard at -538 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 1 degree.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 272 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 65 minutes. The aircraft used 2,730 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport, with a score of 95.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, flying at an altitude of 1,247 ft above ground level (agl) at a distance of 4 nautical miles. The landing was executed with a heading of 30.0°, resulting in a precise alignment with the runway.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target, reaching 134 knots. However, the touchdown distance was considered good, measuring 180 meters. The touchdown speed was a bit fast at 133 knots, but this was not significant enough to affect the overall performance of the landing.
The aircraft's rate of descent was quite steep, with a rate of -538 feet per minute. This is considered a very hard touchdown, but it did not significantly impact the overall score. The runway alignment during landing was excellent, with the aircraft touching down precisely at the threshold.
Considering the local weather conditions, the temperature was a relatively cool 16°C, while the wind speed was 10 knots at a direction of 1°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 9 knots, which were both manageable for the aircraft.
The total landing distance covered was 1,163 meters, which accounts for approximately 45% of the runway's length. This is a respectable distance, and the aircraft's rollout alignment was also very good, ensuring a smooth and controlled rollout after touchdown. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft performed well under the given conditions.
