Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,776 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,776 m of the 2,709 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,170 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the F-35A Lightning II began with a departure roll on runway 33 at ENOL Orland AB. The takeoff distance was 196 meters, which equated to 7% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 170 knots. The local weather at the time showed a temperature of 17°C, with a slight 1 knot wind coming from 269°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 0 knots.
The enroute climb commenced overhead ENOL Orland AB in Trondelag, Norway. The aircraft climbed from 1,281 feet above sea level to 4,085 feet asl, representing an increase of 2,805 feet. This climb took less than a minute and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
Following the climb, an enroute descent was initiated overhead Uthaug in Trondelag, Norway. The descent took the F-35A from 3,820 feet asl to 3,195 feet asl, resulting in a decrease of 625 feet. Similar to the climb, this descent lasted less than a minute and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The subsequent enroute level cruise phase began 2 miles north of Opphaug in Trondelag, Norway. This level cruising lasted for 1 minute and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The landing occurred on runway 15 at ENOL Orland AB, which had a runway length of 2,709 meters. The height at the threshold was 59 feet above ground level, while the speed at the threshold was 186 knots. The touchdown occurred 1,174 meters from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 151 knots and a Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI) reading of -540 feet per minute. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those during departure, with a temperature of 18°C and a 1 knot wind from 269°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 0 knots.
The total landing distance covered was 1,835 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway length. Overall, the total flight distance traveled was 11 nautical miles over a duration of 3 minutes, consuming a total of 411 kilograms of fuel.
