Departure
Ease back pressure in smoothly as you approach 74 kt, holding a steady rotation rate rather than snatching the controls.
What happened: On the takeoff roll the aircraft bounced before becoming fully airborne.
Watch for: Attitude indicator: a smooth, continuous pitch-up through liftoff with no secondary bounce.

Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 54 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 61 kt, 7 kt above the 54 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 54 kt at the threshold.

A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply. These checks are the approach's score.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,866 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 276 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport and commenced the departure roll, covering a take-off distance of 242 m (13 % of the runway). Liftoff was achieved at 68 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
A left-hand pattern entry was flown from runway 23, the leg extending less than 1 nm and being completed in 25 seconds.
The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind leg also measured less than 1 nm and required 26 seconds to fly.
During the pattern downwind turn the aircraft covered 2 nm while turning to an angle of 64.8° toward the far end of the runway.
The downwind leg was 3 nm long and was flown in 88 seconds.
The base-leg turn spanned 2 nm with a turn angle of 47.9° relative to the runway bearing of 45°.
The base leg itself was 1 nm in length and was completed in 62 seconds.
A final-turn segment of less than 1 nm was flown in 28 seconds before establishing the final approach.
On final approach to runway 23 the aircraft descended from 428 ft AGL to 26 ft AGL in 70 seconds and was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose total length is 1,866 m. The threshold height was satisfactory and the threshold speed was well above the target at 61 kt. Touchdown occurred 276 m down the runway at 52 kt with a vertical speed of minus 46 fpm, and runway-touchdown alignment was perfect. Weather remained 15 °C, wind 2 kt from 269°, cross-wind 1 kt and head-wind 2 kt.
Rollout distance measured 403 m, representing 22 % of the runway, and runway-rollout alignment was perfect.
In total the flight covered 18 nm, took 13 (units as given) and consumed 2 kg of fuel.
