Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,679 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,679 m of the 2,692 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 537 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A Boeing 777-300 took off from runway 10L at Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan. Taxiing from the parking to the runway took a total of 12 minutes, covering a distance of approximately 3 nautical miles. As the aircraft departed, it started its takeoff roll on the runway. The takeoff distance was 1,552 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway.
After liftoff, the aircraft climbed to an altitude of 182 knots, reaching a height of 2,771 feet above sea level. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff consisted of a temperature of 29°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots blowing from the 90° direction. As the aircraft climbed, it transitioned to a level cruise mode and started to climb to higher altitudes.
The first level cruise period began approximately 11 miles west of the city of Hangu in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. This phase of the flight lasted for 161 minutes and covered a distance of 1,228 nautical miles. After a short climb period, the second level cruise period started approximately 6 miles southeast of the Bolshiye Shiraki Air Base in Georgia's Kakheti region. This phase of the flight lasted for 178 minutes, covering a distance of 1,316 nautical miles.
The flight continued with several short climbs and level cruise periods, crossing into the territory of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Austria before entering Belgium. The final level cruise period took place overhead the city of Mercin-et-Vaux in France. As the aircraft approached its destination, it initiated a descent from a height of 37,836 feet above sea level.
The aircraft's descent was divided into several stages, with the first part taking place approximately 1 mile west of Etalle in Belgium. The descent from 37,836 feet to 12,062 feet took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 89 nautical miles. The final descent stage started approximately 1 mile southeast of Avilly-Saint-Leonard in France and took 9 minutes to descend from 11,022 feet to 1,658 feet in 11 nautical miles.
After the final descent, the Boeing 777-300 began its approach to runway 09L at Charles de Gaulle International Airport. The approach was made from the west on a 85.0° heading, with the aircraft initially descending to an altitude of 1,300 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed safely on runway 09L but touched down slightly beyond the designated touchdown zone, 127 meters past the actual touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 144 knots, which was marginally above the target speed, while the touchdown rate was at 268 feet per minute, a relatively fair value. The alignment of the aircraft with the runway was slightly off centreline by approximately 4.3 meters.
The total landing distance was 1,604 meters, accounting for 60% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
Throughout the flight, the aircraft consumed 57,472 kilograms of fuel, covering a total distance of 3,252 nautical miles. The total flight time was 462 minutes. Local weather conditions at the destination airport consisted of a temperature of 14°C and winds blowing from the 19° direction at 7 knots.
The Boeing 777-300, flying from the west at a heading of 85.0°, successfully landed on runway 09L at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport. The aircraft's final approach was conducted from 4 nautical miles away at an altitude of 1,300 feet above ground level. The landing was evaluated for its efficiency and adherence to safety standards.
Upon evaluation, the aircraft scored a score of 97.2%, indicating a successful landing with some minor areas for improvement. The aircraft landed above the target threshold speed of 148 kt at 149 kt, and the touchdown speed was also a bit high at 144 kt. However, the touchdown rate of -268 feet per minute was considered fair, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline, although this was not deemed significant.
The local weather during the landing had a temperature of 14°C with a slight wind of 7 kt at 19°. The crosswind and headwind components were relatively minor, at 6 kt and 3 kt respectively. The aircraft's total landing distance was 1,604 meters, or 60% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was deemed very good, demonstrating the aircraft's ability to maintain control and stability after landing.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 777-300 on runway 09L at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport was successful and safe, with some minor deviations from optimal performance. The evaluation highlights areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and alignment, but also demonstrates the aircraft's ability to operate effectively and efficiently.
